Aspiring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leaders Program

The Aspiring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leaders Program is specifically designed to build the confidence and capability of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander teacher leaders, HOCs and HODs aspiring to the next level of their leadership.

This powerful multi-phase program will inspire participants to take on further leadership roles within their school context and beyond. The program will enhance and stretch participant’s leadership practices by developing an understanding of leadership of self, others and their school improvement agenda.

This program will enable you to:

  • Build leadership capability for leading learning to support the school improvement agenda
    Strengthen understanding of self as a leader
  • Gain commitment from others through influence, trust, and professional conversations
  • Lead high-performance teams to develop collective capacity
  • Deepen understanding of the impact of cultural identity, resilience and strength-based leadership

Program Structure

  • Phase 1 – Program preparation, pre-readings, 360-degree survey and debrief
  • Phase 2 – One-day & Two-day Workshop
  • Phase 3 – In-school Leadership Challenge Action Plan (LCAP) & 1-hour coaching session
  • Phase 4 – Two-day Workshop
  • Phase 5 – LCAP & 1-hour coaching session
  • Phase 6 – Two-day Workshop & LCAP presentation
  • Phase 7 – Finalisation and reflection on LCAP
  • Phase 8 – Submission of “Reflections on Learning”
