Please consider the following Aspiring Leader Statements for the Aspiring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leaders Program.

  1. Be a role model for effective school leadership, demonstrating the practices and competencies outlined in the AITSL Standards for Lead Teachers.
  2. Be reflective, innovative, and forward-looking leaders who are focused and have demonstrated improvement in student growth, achievement and well-being.
  3. Be recognised and respected by colleagues, parents/carers and the community as exemplary teachers.
  4. Have demonstrated consistent and innovative teaching practice over time.
  5. Have established inclusive learning environments that meet the needs of students from different linguistic, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
  6. Have mentored teachers and pre-service teachers and promoted creative, innovating thinking among colleagues.
  7. Have applied skills and in-depth knowledge and understanding to deliver effective lessons and learning opportunities and shared this information with colleagues and pre-service teachers.
  8. Represent the school and the teaching profession in the community. You are professional, ethical and respected individuals inside and outside the school.
