NEW ZEALAND BENCHMARKING STUDY TOUR
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
As a program participant, you will engage with highly-regarded international education leaders to explore the latest research and examine best practice examples of highly-effective implementation of school and system improvements
You will:
- develop a deeper understanding of your own instructional leadership
- build your knowledge of the power of well-organised school networks to build collective efficacy and drive school and system improvement
- learn how to implement and engage your senior leaders in cycles of rigorous and effective peer school reviews
- understand the role of change agent in education systems and build your capability to lead others through ever-increasing complex change
PROGRAM FEATURES
- Six-month program with a blended learning approach, including face-to-face workshops, online learning and one-to-one coaching sessions
- International benchmarking study tour where you will visit schools, interact with thought leaders and gain insight and inspiration to translate policy to practice

Two-day Workshop
Participants will receive the book, Schools and Communities: Working Together to Transform Children’s Lives, by Maggie Farrar and engage in a two day-workshop with presentations from Thought Leaders and a QELi facilitator.

New Zealand Study Tour
23 of July
Arrival in Auckland, New Zealand. 2 hour orientation session: “Understanding school leadership in the New Zealand school setting led” by Diane Manners, Evaluation Associates.
24 of July
Full day workshop, “Undertaking change that will lead to improvement” with Emeritus Professor Viviane Robinson. Participants will explore how they can engage influence processes that achieve improvement.
25 – 26 of July
Two different school visits over two days with options to explore a range of school settings in groups of 4 or 3. Free time afforded in afternoon.
27 of July
Half day workshop on Māori-medium education in New Zealand. Free time afforded in afternoon.
28 of July
One school visit in the Auckland featuring 3 potential settings, English medium schooling with a Maori-medium unit, Dual medium schooling or Māori-medium schooling.
29 of July
Sightseeing and finally, departure.
Practical Application
1 hour virtual coaching session with expert QELi coach.
Two-day Workshop
This two-day workshop will engage participants in reflections on their leadership, and unpack key insights from the study tour.
Participants will also meet guest facilitator Judi Newman.
Certificate of Completion
During this phase participants will submit their final Position Paper, receive feedback and be awarded their certificate of completion.
