Leadership for Principals Program Metropolitan Region 2019
Program objectives
The Leadership for Principals Program will broaden your understanding and enable you to:
- develop accountability structures that enhance the conditions for collaboration and de-privatisation of practice
- strengthen community engagement and networks
- lead learning with a future focus outlook and improving student outcomes based on the latest international research
- understand systemness and alignment of goals, resources, processes and routines
- influence and motivate staff
- be able to invite involvement, critical thinking and design thinking
- understand how to adapt to different circumstances and contexts.
Phase 1 - Program Preparation
• Pre-readings
• 360-degree feedback survey and one-hour debrief with expert QELi coach.
The survey is a tool for gaining meaningful feedback from peers, leaders and support staff to help you to reflect and identify strategies for professional growth. It is mapped to the AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Principals.
Phase 2 - Two-day Workshop
• Explore leadership theories and models including:
– community engagement
– leading learning
– accountability
– systemness
– risk and challenge contexts
– resilience
– leadership for innovation.
• Engage with feedback from your 360-degree survey to develop a personalised leadership goal.
• Leadership Challenge Action Project (LCAP) – You will identify a leadership project within your current role that will enable you to reflect on and grow your leadership capacity.
• Establish a collegial network.
Phase 3 - LCAP and Coaching
• Implementation of your LCAP commences.
• One hour coaching session with expert QELi coach.
• Connect with your collegial network buddy for reflection on progress.
Phase 4 - Two-day Workshop
• Explore leadership theories and models including:
– community engagement
– leading learning
– accountability
– systemness
– risk and challenge contexts
– resilience
– leadership for innovation.
• Present and celebrate your LCAP success.
• Define and plan for ongoing learning.
Phase 5 - LCAP Completion
• Collaborate with collegial network buddy and finalise LCAP
• Submit reflections of learning.
Phase 6 - Recognition of Program Completion
• Certificate of completion awarded
