Program Objectives

The Leading Inclusive School Practices Program will enable you to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to:

  • understand yourself as an educational leader of inclusive practices
  • support and develop a collaborative culture of inclusive education
  • give and receive effective feedback for collective improvement of
    inclusive education
  • lead inclusive practices to positively impact student outcomes
  • create an emotionally aware strength based learning environment
  • expand your knowledge and understanding of leadership capabilities
  • reflect on feedback in relation to leading inclusive practices
  • apply these new learnings to your role in leading inclusive education

Leading Inclusive School Practices 2020

Phase 1 - Program Preparation

From: 20 July 2020
To: 16 August 2020 2020
Location: In-school

• Pre-readings
• 360-degree GENOS Emotional Intelligence Survey and one-hour debrief with a QELi coach

The survey is a tool for gaining meaningful feedback from peers, leaders and support staff to help you to reflect and identify strategies for professional growth.

Phase 2 - Two-day Workshop

From: 17 August 2020 8:00 AM
To: 18 August 2020 4:30 PM
Location: QELi, Level 14, 201 Charlotte Street, Brisbane, 4000

The workshop will be conducted using a variety of structures ranging from whole group sessions to individual reflection time and will allow you to:
• Share and celebrate leadership successes
• Explore and develop leadership capabilities
• Complete QELi leadership modules, including but not limited to, practitioners voice, the role of trust in leadership, emotional intelligence, inclusion policy, data analysis and goal setting, leading change, influencing and motivating, high performing teams, mentoring, professional conversations, difficult conversations, feedback and resilience.

• Engage with feedback from your 360-degree survey to develop a personalised leadership goal.

• Leadership Challenge Action Project (LCAP) – You will identify a leadership project within your current role that will enable you to reflect on and grow your leadership capacity and leading inclusive practices.

• Establish a collegial network.

Phase 3 - LCAP and Coaching

From: 19 August 2020
To: 27 November 2020
Location: In-school

Transfer your learning into action: LCAP, Coaching, Pulse Checks and Learning Challenges
• You will identify an experienced mentor depending on the developmental needs you identified in your LCAP.

• Implementation of your LCAP commences.

• One-hour coaching session with expert QELi coach to discuss your LCAP

• 4x Pulse Checks: pulse checks are designed to provide you with an opportunity to reflect on the program and your leadership. Completed online, via the QELi Learning Portal, pulse checks are aligned with the strategic directions and the relevant leadership capability frameworks of the program. Pulse checks take approximately five minutes to complete

• 4x Learning Challenges: learning challenges are aligned to relevant leadership capability frameworks, particularly the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) standards. Learning challenges invite you to consider issues and reflect on behaviours and matters which impact on your work and aspirations. Each learning challenge seeks to promote self-reflection through mixed learning modalities. Learning challenges take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Phase 4 - One-day Workshop

From: 27 November 2020 8:00 AM
To: 27 November 2020 4:30 PM
Location: QELi, 201 Charlotte Street, Brisbane, 4000

• Explore and develop leadership capabilities
• Share and celebrate leadership challenge successes
• Deliver an eight-minute presentation on your leadership journey so far

Phase 5 - LCAP Completion

From: 28 October 2020
To: 9 December 2020
Location: In-school

• Collaboration with collegial network buddy and finalise LCAP
• Submit your reflection of learning online, via the QELi Learning Portal

Phase 6 - Recognition of Program Completion

From: 10 December 2020
To: 10 December 2020
Location: In school

• Certificate of completion awarded
