Leading with Emotional Intelligence for Deputy Principals program – NQ 2021
View Program FlyerThere is a wealth of research detailing the impact of emotion on individual performance and success. In collaboration with North Queensland Region, QELi’s Leading with Emotional Intelligence is a high impact world-class online program designed to accelerate deep and sustainable learning about emotional intelligence to drive this key leadership capability.
Using the GENOS International 360° EI Survey, participants will not only gain invaluable feedback and support to monitor and stretch their own emotional intelligence, they will explore the central role of emotions and emotional intelligence on the work performance of others. Participants will explore and practise tools and techniques for applying emotional intelligence in leadership and creating high performance in others.
Program Objectives:
In Leading with Emotional intelligence, you will:
- Explore the neuroscience of emotions and emotional intelligence using the GENOS model.
- Identify tools and techniques to effectively ask for, and respond to feedback in the pursuit of developing awareness of self and others.
- Examine how we can use reactive and proactive techniques to build our resilience and effectively manage strong emotions.
- Explore how to engage in emotionally intelligent high impact conversations.

Phase 1 - Introductory Module
Features of this initial phase will include:
– Access to the QELi Learning Portal for the program – 1 February 2021
– A 1hour ‘Introduction to the program’ virtual workshop – 45 mins + 15mins Q & A – 9 February 2021 (3.30pm to 4.30pm):
– What is this initiative all about and what’s in it for me?
– What is EI (the science of emotions and emotional intelligence)?
– Why the assessment and debrief, and what’s involved?
– How to choose rater’s and get the most out of the debrief.
– Undertaking a 360° GENOS EI Leadership Feedback survey – 10 February to 5 March 2021
– A 1hour virtual 360° GENOS EI Leadership Feedback report debrief session with a qualified coach – March 2021
Phase 2 – Virtual Workshop Series
Features of this phase will include 6x 1hour virtual workshops which work through the GENOS EI competencies.
1. Self-Awareness – 23 March 2021, 3.30pm to 4.30pm
2. Awareness of Others – 20 April 2021, 3.30pm to 4.30pm
3. Authenticity – 4 May 2021, 3.30pm to 4.30pm
4. Emotional Reasoning – 18 May 2021, 3.30pm to 4.30pm
5. Self-Management – 1 June 2021, 3.30pm to 4.30pm
6. Inspiring Performance – 15 June 2021, 3.30pm to 4.30pm
Participants will also engage in a 1hour virtual coaching session (end of June 2021) to firm up their thoughts around how they will develop EI Leadership action goals to embed the learnings from the webinars, and in response to the feedback they received.
Phase 3 – Certificate of Completion
Participants receive their certificate of completion.
