QELi is delighted to partner with Dr Matt Capp, Founder and Chief Learning Officer at CAPITALISE Education, to provide a webinar series learning how to practically support all students to access the learning process by applying the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles during the planning, teaching, and assessment cycle.
Dr Matt Capp is the leading expert in UDL within Australia and in the Southern Hemisphere. He is the author of multiple peer-reviewed and professional journal articles on the topic. He has 20 years experiences as a classroom teacher and an educational consultant working in the area of inclusive education.
Welcome & Preparation
Participants will be receive the welcome email with webinar details – week of 24 April 2023.
Participants will engage in 4 x 1.5hour webinars (All times AEST):
Webinar 1 – Developing an inclusive curriculum 3 May 2023, 3.30pm to 5pm QLD time)
How the curriculum is interpreted and implemented can be the first barrier to the learning process. Participants will explore how they can practically break down barriers to the Australian Curriculum, by collaboratively identifying key knowledge and skills, and identifying what students actually need to demonstrate.
Webinar 2 – Deeply knowing your learners (24 May 2023, 3.30pm to 5pm QLD time)
To ensure that planning, teaching, and assessment are inclusive for all learners, educators need to deeply know their students. Participants will explore how they can practically deepen their knowledge of their students so they can create inclusive learning experiences that support all learners.
Webinar 3 – Deepening knowledge of the UDL principles (14 Jun 2023, 3.30pm to 5pm QLD time)
The UDL framework is a proactive approach to supporting all learners to access the learning process. Participants will deepen their understanding of the UDL principles and how these can be practically applied within classrooms.
Webinar 4 – Developing inclusive lessons for all students (12 Jul 2023, 3.30pm to 5pm QLD time)
By proactively identifying the requirements of the Australian Curriculum and the strengths and challenges of their students, teachers can identify effective UDL strategies which they embed within their lesson planning. Participants will develop an understanding of how they develop inclusive lesson plans using the UDL principles.
Participants will be emailed their certificate of completion – week of 17 July 2023.
