It was with great pleasure that QELi connected with Emeritus Professor, Dylan Wiliam, Educational Assessment, University College London, on the topic of Formative Assessment – a field in which he has dedicated the last 10 years of his professional life to research, implementation and sharing his knowledge to the teaching world.
Dylan opened his presentation raising the argument for the improvement of student achievement by increasing the quality of teaching practice – a solution that he believes not only benefits individuals’ educational growth, but also that of society.
He shared his definition of formative assessment and discussed ways teachers can practice formative assessment in the classroom, broke down assumptions around what makes an effective teacher and focused on the importance of improving and elevating the practice of teaching ongoing throughout a teacher’s career, to truly create the basis for student achievement.
